Leisure Over Work.

I have to be honest. Writing long research papers are so boring. I much rather spend time on Facebook (although that's not too interesting any more either). The point is, I rather have fun than work. The issue though, is that work is important. If we don't learn the art of hard work, we'll develop laziness, and the worst procrastination problem. I already procrastinate a bit too much, and that's something I HAVE to work on.

The DMV.

So. I went to the DMV. I guess the lady really hated her job, considering the fact that she got really mad a one woman for asking a simple question. I don't remember what the question was exactly, but the DMV officer was really loud and quite rude. It wasn't like it was a stupid question, it was actually a very legitimate question. I mean, you get off work at 4:30. I understand that you have to work with a ton of people, but be professional. Calm down.

3 Wishes...

Wish #3...
An unlimited wardrobe. I love clothing; I adore fashion in general. So I would definitely wish for a wardrobe with unlimited possibilities. I would love to have a different combination of shoes, accessories, dresses, and etc.

Wish #2
For my family and I to have the ability to live comfortably. I don't want to be super rich, because with more money, comes a lot more...issues. I want to be able to afford, and treat myself and others (even those outside the family) when I feel the need.

Wish #1!!
Want I want most is my grandmother to go back to the healthy state that she was once in. I want for her to go back to being completely independent as she was a couple years ago. I would wish for her Parkinson's to go away and never come back.

Finally 18...

So, I turned 18 three days ago, and I don't feel much different. I suppose that it'll take a bit longer than 3 days for things to change. I enjoyed my birthday; a surprise party, and I was actually surprised. :P Although things weren't drastic, I did wake up the next morning with a brief moment of excitement as I exclaimed, "omg, I'm 18!..." but then I became nonchalant again. Maybe it'll kick in on my first trip to the club, or better yet, when my mom hands me the first bill in a long line of bills i'll be responsible for, haha.

The Wonderful, Wonderful Holidays...

I love Christmas, it's even safe to say that it's my favorite holiday; not because of the superficial reasons, but the real meaning. I love the feeling I get when Christmas is close by, and I love helping with Christmas dinner. There's something calming about putting up decorations, and assembling the tree. I enjoy the presents too, of course. As much as I love spending time with family members, I must say escaping the immaturity of school is the greatest part. It's nice to get away from the foolishness. However the break seems to be a bit shorter this year, but whatever, it's still time off and I'm ecstatic.

Bad Mood: Easy to Change

Don't let irrelevant individuals bring your mood down. A bad mood is a state of mind. Keep telling yourself that you're in a bad mood, and that you're having a bad day, and eventually it'll become true. Don't waste time on petty things or petty people. Often times those critical individuals who spend time putting others down, do it in order to compensate for their insecurity. Instead of stooping to their level, be mature about the situation. You should feel sorry for them--they obviously seek attention, and when you give them yours, they've won.
Regardless of what happens, keep a positive outlook--life could be much more unfortunate. Positive things happen to positive people; life is too short for negativity.

Social Media and Technology: The Positives

It is very much positive for social media and technology to actually be--helpful. Technology is more revolutionary and advanced then ever; we can do things never imagined. It has changed the way the world works, and has made it more complex and simple at the same time. Social Media is in fact extremely charitable, or it at least assists in that. A North Carolina boy, at only 7 years old, is using Facebook to raise money for Hurricane Sandy victims. Facebook also has several pages dedicated to reuniting Sandy victims with lost valuables. The use of social media for charity has increased greatly since 2011. Social media also helps people reach out to loved ones who may be too far away. More people are connected with long distance relatives as a result of social media. There are pro and cons for everything, and even with the horrible negatives, social media isn't all bad.

Social Media and Technology: The Negatives

Social Media has its pros and cons. While it is revolutionary, it has ruined many reputations and personal lives. Here are some instances of media mischief:

Twitter Fraud
An impersonator pretending to be movie star Jonah Hill ("Superbad", "The Sitter", etc.) created a twitter account. Hill confirmed that he in fact does NOT have a twitter account, but that his impersonator has more than over a hundred thousand followers. The impersonator displayed crude behavior and even caused a fake feud with Jon Favreau, an actor and director who directed "Iron Man" and "Iron Man 2".

Online Love: Fraud
Mr. Jones met  an African woman on a dating website. After intriguing conversations, she convinced Mr. Jones to invite her to Australia. He sent her money for several travel expenses; airline tickets, passport, and insurance. He also sent her extra money to retrieve her valuables. She then asked him to come to Africa to help her leave. When he called the Australian embassy in her country, they informed him that it could be a scam. Many have been kidnapped on arrival, and held for ransom.

Students Post Racist Tweets
Some students decided to post racist tweets about the election. Stehl Taylor posted: "About time we get this monkey out of office #GoBackToTheZoo". As a result of his ignorance, he will have trouble getting accepted into college or even hired at a job. Operation Reputation: RUINED.

Chris Brown/Rihanna
The media had a field day with Chris Brown and Rihanna violent dispute. They constantly judged Chris Brown; they couldn't seem to get over the incident. The media also shows their constant disapproval of Rihanna keeping in contact with Chris Brown; it makes it hard for them to reconcile.

Prince Harry
The media made a huge deal about the nude photos of Prince Harry that were taken with a camera phone. They questioned his preparedness to hold a royal role as a Prince; although I think he's human first and foremost.
